Mead Johnson releases statement re its sub-standard products

September 22, 2010

Following the DOH-FDA Advisory No.2010-09 and 10 that seeks recall of Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor and Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement, Mead Johnson Nutritionals (MJN) Philippines has issued a statement that dwells on the safety of its products.

In its statement, Mead Johnson said that safety is its “highest priority and the company spares no effort to comply with the laws of all of the countries in which it operates. All of the company’s products are produced in accordance with the CODEX Code of Hygienic Practice for Foods for Infants and Children.

It further said that its company is “committed to bringing safe, effective, nutritious and high quality products to meet the nutritional needs of the Philippines’ children.”

As regards to the findings of FDA that Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder and Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk were “non-compliant to the standard of  inferior quality,” Mead Johnson responded by launching a “reformulated version of Alactagrow that meets the new regulatory requirements”.  They said that “work is also underway to develop an updated version of Sustagen to meet the revised standards.”
